Running and Fat Loss - Does it Work?

Many people think that the key to fat loss is running. And long, extended periods of running is what people believe will do the trick at shedding excess body fat. Is this true? Or is just another myth like the burning fat on your stomach one we discussed in another post?

Well, it is true. Cardio does help you get rid of fat. But doing 40+ minutes of slow, extended cardio may not be the best solution. Strangely, I've found out that it may be better to do intense interval training throughout the week instead. This stimulates your metabolism and keeps your body in a fat burning mode.

Of course, running is always a good thing to do. It not only helps you burn fat but it also is healthy for you and can keep your heart healthy. I used to run all the time but when I realized that I was running 10-20 miles a day and still had a high body fat percentage, I had to make a change. And I did.

Learning how to lose weight fast is not about doing the most running or the most extreme dieting. It is about finding a balance between added exercise and reduced calories and being consistent over a period of time long enough for you to allow your body to get rid of enough fat you want.
